there was a small strip of stores before the Laos-Vietnam border crossing selling some standard goods for all of us wanting to spend our remaining kip (lao currency, about 9000 to the us Dollar)... pantene pro-v, toothpaste, oranges, bananas, nestea, ... and skewered rats.
