balmy bangkok

my first deleriously exhausted hours in bangkok: a pink taxi on an amazingly wide highway with billboards the size of movie screens brought me to the city center. i met my lovely travel companions in the bar below our hostel, colorful with a ring of shoes around the elevated floor. walking to a small jazz bar, my skirt brushed against a pure white pig's head in a basket, about a minute before i took this photo of one of bangkok's many waterways. it hit me hard that i was a long way from home.
not three days ago, on a boat down the Mekong in Laos, i watched a pig with rigor mortis float alongside. an eerie theme...
we passed many small stores where families seemed to be living in the front room, a series of tiny microchosms.
